Orange Beach is home to one of the largest fishing fleets on the gulf, with captains specializing in all types of catches. While summertime and its signature red snapper fishing experience are coastal Alabama’s main drawing card, the most knowledgeable fishermen know there are many more fishing adventures to be found here any time of year.
Bottom fishing for snapper, grouper, amberjack and trigger is always popular, as is offshore fishing for tuna and billfish. The seasonal hunt for migrating cobia offers a spring challenge. And in all seasons, anglers can find excellent inshore opportunities to bring home flounder, specs and reds.
Fishing brings excitement for spectators, as well. Orange Beach is a well-known stop on the Blue Marlin Grand Championship and home to the Orange Beach Billfish Classic. These events bring avid anglers and big money prizes to The Wharf in Orange Beach each year. Spectators gather for the daily weigh-ins and to hear the stories of reeling in the biggest catches.
Area marinas include long-term and transient dock space as well as excellent dry dock facilities. Many also offer charter booking services, repair operations and excellent waterfront dining.
